You want your refrigerator to keep your food cold enough to limit bacteria from forming and spreading but not cold enough to freeze. By keeping your refrigerator between 36-40 degrees you will be keeping it at an ideal temperature.

    The normal temperature of a refrigerator is between 1°C - 5°C (-34°F - -41°F).

A fridge should never go above 40 degrees, that is entering the "danger zone."

As close to 32 degrees as your fridge can run without freezing things.

The colder you run it the longer food will keep. Just don't frost things up. That is not bad for meats but if milk frosts up it separates, and lettuce wilts when frosted.
