    Female:

Vala (Singled Out, Chosen, Oath) (Old German, English) (VAALah, vah-luh)

Vidia and Vidya (Vidia is a form of Vidya, which is the name of a Hindu goddess, and means "wisdom, knowledge, learning" in Sanskrit. Vidia could also be derived from invidia meaning Envy in Latin.) (Sanskrit, Latin) (Vidia: vid-ee-ah Vidya: VId- yaa)

Verona (Bearer of Victory, True Image, Victory Bringer, Variant form of the English, Italian, and Romanian name Veronica. Also name of an Italian City where William Shakespeare's play Romeo & Juliet was based.) (American, Dutch, German, Greek) (VER-ona, VER-ohna)

Venice (Love, Desire, Happiness, Luck, Place name: Venice, the "city of canals" in Italy. Used since the 17th century. Its source is Venetia, a Latin name meaning "Home people." The name of the northern Italian city, famed for its canals, was derived from that of its first inhabitants. The Venetia gathered there to escape the barbarian invasions that plagued the Italian peninsula after the fall of Rome.

By 700 A.D. the first doge, or chief magistrate, was presiding over Venice's government. So began the commercial and political rise of the Venetian Republic, a powerful city-state that lasted well into the 16th century.

This name's Indo-European root probably was also ancestor to the name of the Roman goddess of love, Venus) (Latin, Italian, Welsh) (VEH-nis)

Vela (Limit, Coast, Shore, the sails of a ship, Constellation name ) (Latin, Sanskrit, Danish) (VEE-lah)

    Vashta (Alive, Life) (Latin) (VASH-ta)

    Male:

Vladimir (Renowned Prince, To Rule with Greatness, Great Ruler, To Rule with Peace, Ruling Peace, The Owner of Peace, Has Peace) (Slavic, Russian) (vlah-DEE-meer)

    Hope these help. - Cass
