    Lamrock Lodge, Bondi Beach.

About 25mins from the airport, 20mins from the CBD and harbour. A nice, relaxing and peaceful place to stay. A few en-suite rooms, WiFi internet cafe.

Definitely Manly on the north of Sydney harbour. It is clean, pretty and it is lovely to get a boat to work -no pollution and very quick There are buses and trains too but they take longer. The Manly Beach Resort is where I stayed. Kings Cross in the city is the red light area and there are hostels there. They are very squashed however and really better if staying just overnight. Bondi hostels are very poor value for money. Not a good place to stay at all. There is quite a big one in Glebe also, just outside the city. Good luck and have a good time there.

BASE. Its located in the CBD, and is within walking distance to darling harbour, the Sydney bridge and opera house and pretty much anywhere else you want to go. The bus stops for Bondi beach are also only a few blocks away. It's full of backpackers, young and old. Has a travel desk to book excursions, many computers, big kitchen and laundry room. Rates are reasonable. http://www.stayatbase.com/hostels.aspx
