    Hi there,

Desktop.....standard tower, keyboard, monitor and mouse (all seperate units).

These can be fast and powerful. Upgrading is usually very easy since there usually is room for second hard drives and video cards. They can be "low end" to "gaming computers".

All-in -one....all the "computer hardware" is enclosed inside the monitor except for the keyboard and mouse. These have good processors and optical drives. They are difficult to upgrade due to their compact size. However the monitor is full size 15 -17 inch diagonal and some of them have touch screens.

Laptop and Notebook.....they are the same thing just named different. Does not matter what you call them. Screen size from 13 inches to 17 inches (diagonal) and they usually have an optical drive.

Optical drive usually is a DVD/CD Reader/Writer. These can be "low end" or powerful gaming computers.

Laptops (notebooks) are becomming very fast and [powerful with the newer dual and quad processors. Battery life is from 3 hrs. to 4.5 hours.

Netbook......This is a much smaler laptop (notebook) usually with a 10 inch diagonal screen and no optical drive. Netbooks are much lighter weight with about an 8 hour battery life (because of a less powerful but more efficient processor )

    Hope this helps,

A desktop has a separate unit that holds the actual computer. The monitor is separate. An all-in-one has the monitor and computer in the same unit.

Laptop and notebook are the same thing. They're portable computers with a fold-down monitor attached. A netbook is a low-power, smaller laptop.

The difference is in their design: laptops are portable, desktop aren't.
