I don't think the problem is with your PS3. I am having a similar issue with my 360 version of Skyrim. I picked up the game at midnight, put 6 hours in and turned off my system. Now the game will not load up any of my auto-save files, manual saves seem to load fine though. This may just be a bug that Bethesda has to fix via update patch.

It most likely is your PS3, but if you have the receipt for the game, take it back. It might be a dud. Usually non saves are shorts in the disk itself.
