Why do you want to tap on your Hard drive? Even if you do its not gonna cause bad sectors but will stop working probably if something has to happen.

But Hard drives are not like glass, they have some durability, they can resist to a limit and that probably your common sense will tell you when you look at a hard drive.

YES, the fly height of the read/write heads needs to be maintained without the heads hitting the media. if it touches it will scratch the disk's the same as a record player can scratch a record.

You might hear that tapping a disk that is stuck in startup is good and it is true and it was called STICKSION, however this is common to older drives not new ones, pre-sata era.

never is tapping a disk that is doing read/write good, never

It can happen if the distance between the two plates in the HDD is changed the HDD is no longer of any use. Never tap on a HDD. The amount of shaking the HDD can maximally take is written of the HDD.
