So people should work 60 hours a week, for just enough pay to buy day-old bread every few days, so that owners can keep all the profit of THEIR (the workers') labor?
WHY? Why shoudl the people who actually do all the work of making things and providing services shiver in the streets so the very, very few can have 50 5,000 room mansions, and 12 lear jets?
What was responsible was the signing of "Free Trade" agreements that sold us all out. If we progressives had gottn our way, those agreements would have protected workers' right to collectively bargain for a living wage, and would have protected the environment.
The fact that greedy, short-sighted, unscrupulous, stupid people want to rake in all the money in the world while everyone else starves in the streets, and every mammal, bird, and fish is destroyed, all the air turned to sludge, and all the water poison, does NOT mean they should get their way.
Why don't YOU see that a few people destroying everything for everyone else is wrong, and that such people should be brought under the control of civilized human beings, rather than let loose to destroy everything?
Why is it that people who say "I refuse to do my job of stealing everyone's money unless I'm paid hundreds of millions of dollars a year every year of my life." can't understand people who say "I will work, but I need a LIVING wage, health care for my family, and assurance that I won't starve in the streets as soon as I'm too old to work."
It seems to me that everyone who sides with that first group are sub-human morons. Their system is unworkable. Without consumers, none of them would have any business to run. And without a livable planet, they themselves will have it worse.
