There have been concerns about worsening relationships among Northeast Asian

countries due to the differences in historical perceptions about the past war.

ASIA-PACIFIC RESEARCH CENTER (Shorenstein APARC) at Stanford University

conducted a project of a comparative study of the history text books used

today in Japan, China, Korea and America,Taiwan.

The result shows that the Japanese history textbooks doesn't glorify the war

and are the most controlled of all the text books of the countries under

study .

Come on. Don't think your country is the most justicial in the world. Japan has been trying to hide the truth about Nanking Massacre like many other countries are hiding something.

Add: Yes. China is good at hiding and facricating, but this cannot justify Japan's doing the same thing. Both should be criticized.

The frightening thing about this entire debate is not that there are deniers out there, (who are dead wrong by the way), but that they are running the Japanese education system. Obviously the Japanese people are NOT the only country in the world to have perpetrated horrendous things, but the Japanese education system and Japanese school texts are frighteningly biased and incomplete. There has been a determined effort on the part of the Japanese government in recent years to sanitise Japanese history and present generalisations and half truths as fact. Shades of the Nazi education system. We should all be very concerned whenever we see such efforts in an education system, whether at home or abroad.

The Nanking Massacre was real - there are a plethora of primary sources produced by the Japanese themselves, from accounts by individual soldiers involved, movie footage filmed by Japanese camera crews, and official records of orders issued by senior Japanese commanders at the time.Add in witness testimony, from both Chinese and Western sources, and there's no way all of it could be faked or made up.

What makes the claims of the revisionists that are trying to deny what happened so obviously false is the number of different accounts and excuses used - these contradict each other and in no way provide a consistent argument for the accounts of the atrocities to have been fabricated.

The most reliable because pro-Japanese biased witness is the German NSDAP member John Rabe, a Siemens manager who saved 250.000 Chinese civilians. On 19 December Rabe wrote: "Six Japanese climbed over my garden wall and attempted to open the gates from the inside. When I arrive and shine my flashlight in the face of one of the bandits, he reaches for his pistol, but his hand drops quickly enough when I yell at him and hold my swastika armband under his nose. Then, on my orders, all six scramble back over the wall. My gates will never be opened to riffraff like that. … The 300 to 400 refugees here in my garden - I no longer know how many there really are - Have used straw mats, old doors, and sheets of tin to build huts for a little protection from the snow and cold."

On 24 December he wrote "I have had to look at so many corpses over the last few weeks that I can keep my nerves in check even when viewing these horrible cases. It really doesn't leave you in a 'Christmas' mood; but I wanted to see these atrocities with my own eyes, so that I can speak as an eyewitness later. A man cannot be silent about this kind of cruelty!"

Rabe didn't have any benefit from his activities. In contrary, he had written to Hitler repeatedly asking him to intervene and was arrested by the Gestapo after his return. Then during denazification he was denied employment on his NSDAP membership, being an alleged Nazi. He died in poverty receiving support packages from he people of Nanjing. His diaries were found 20 years later by his children.

Too many first person accounts, from sources friendly to the Japanese.

The only thing faked about the Nanjing massacre is the pretense that such war criminals were somehow "only" following orders of the Emperor.

Asian Holocaust denial. No, it happened, they have the mass graves, pictures, and thousands of first-person testimonials to verify it. Chinese survivors, international dignitaries in the city at the time (including Nazis), and even Japanese soldiers have all come forward and give the same account.

No...can't buy your theory. There were to many outside witnesses. The Japanese Imperial forces even shocked the Nazis...and that was hard to do. I'm afraid it happened.
