    首先,讓我將DaSaGwa大大在意見001寫的英文內容翻譯成中文給你看:

    我知道你現在只是個國一的學生,要讀懂我在回答區的解說對你來說是有點太難。但我希望有人能夠幫助你了解我所寫的內容。因為我無法打中文字,所以只能全部用英文來回答問題。對於這個缺點,還請你多包容。

    接著,我就將他在回答區所寫的內容翻譯成英文,然後分批貼在以下意見區裡。 希望這樣做能對你有點幫助。

    2011-10-23 23:42:03 補充:

    [以下是回答002英文內容的中譯,若有謬誤之處,還請原作者和各位路過的前輩不吝指正。謝謝!]

    樓上大大的回答可說非常詳盡,但我覺得若要初學者硬生生地記下這些規則似乎有點難度。現在讓我從發音/讀法(pronunciation)的角度出發,給你一個簡短版的回答。亦即,你應該先學會每個字的正確讀法。一旦你知道如何正確地讀出每個字,請直接加上s,然後再讀讀看;若你仍能正確地讀出這個字,那麼你就只需為這個字加上s,譬如說:

    book, tools, pencils…

    2011-10-23 23:43:59 補充:

    [承上則]

    要知道加在這些字之字尾的s如何發音,就要看字尾s前面的字母是什麼。若前面字母發輕音,你就將字尾s讀成s;若前面字母發重音,你就將字尾s讀成z;譬如說:

    books, tools, pencils ---> s

    zoos, directors, scooter ---> z

    然而,當你遇到字尾是y, ch, o, x, sh…(以及樓上大大所列出的那些字尾)的字時,你就必須加es,理由仍和這些字的發音有關。譬如說:

    box, bus, brush, potato, tomato, story, …

    2011-10-23 23:44:20 補充:

    [承上則]

    若你只為以上這些字加上s,你會發覺這些字變得很難發音;就算你能勉強讀出這些字,聽的人恐怕也無法聽出這些字到底是單數還是複數。因此你必須為這些字多加一個e (亦即加上es),這樣聽者才容易清楚地聽懂你整個字的發音。

    另一個需要特別注意的字尾是f,但其規則仍和發音有關。你必須將這裡的f改成ves,亦即保留其單數形式的讀音,但仍能讓聽者聽得出這些字是單數還是複數。

    總之,將單數名詞變成複數形式的大原則只有三個,亦即加s、es或ies。你只要從發音(pronunciation)下手就行了。若你認為背一堆規則對你來說較簡單的話,那你就別管我以上所說的了。

    2011-10-23 23:45:29 補充:

    [承上則]

    最後,就像世上所有的原則一樣,這裡的大原則也會有例外的情形,譬如說:

    man ---> men

    child ---> children

    對於這些例外的情形,你就只能用背的了。

    The upstair's answer is very complete, but I wonder as abeginner, whether this is too much to memorize. Let me give you a shorterversion that is based upon PRONUNCIATION. That is to said, you shall knoweach word's proper pronunciation. Once you can pronounce each wordcorrectly, then you add "s' to it, if you can still pronounce it properly,then it only need to add "s"for example: Books, tools, pencils ...How the "s" is pronounced depends uponwhat is the letter before this added "s", if it is light sound, youpronounce as "s', if it is heavy, then you pronounce as "z", forexample: Books, tools, pencils ---> szoos, directors, scooter ---> z However, when you encounter word that ends with like y, ch, o, x,sh,… and the “upstair” has listed in his answer. You will have added “es”. The reason is still how those words arepronounced. Say Box, bus, brush, potato, tomato, story, …If you just add “s”, it would be very difficult to pronounce or even youcan the listener might not distinguish your pronunciation, whether it is pluralor single. Therefore, you need to add anextra “e” or “ie” to make the pronunciation easier and clearer to understand. There is another one that is for words endwith “f”. Again, it is still based upon pronunciation,so that they get changed from “f” to “ves”, just preserve the sound of itssingle form without making the listeners confused with whether you are talkingabout single or plural. In a word, in general, there are only 3 possible cases for changing fromsingle to plural. They “s”, “es’, “ies”. You just have to learn it from the pronunciation. If you think memorizing those rules iseasier, then forget about my saying.

    2011-10-23 04:41:48 補充:

    Finally, as all the rules are, there will be exception, for examples:

    man à men

    child à children

    These, you just have to memorize them

    2011-10-23 04:43:28 補充:

    I know you are just a 7th grade, so to read my explanation is hard for you to understand, but I hope someone can help you to understand my saying. I cannot type in Chinese, so I have answer questions in English. I am sorry for my short-coming.

    2011-10-24 00:03:09 補充:

    Citro! Thank you very much, your translation is exactly what I mean.

    版大: please give the credit to Citro, after all, it is her to make my saying more useful to you.
