Debbie Reynolds. Coincidentally, I'm right now reading about her halcyon days at Metro in a great new picture-book about that studio. ("MGM: Hollywood's Greatest Backlot," 2011, Steven Bingen, et al. Debbie wrote the foreword.)
And not just because she's the archetypal Girl Next Door. Though I do think GNDs are sweet and sexy. But also because she was one of the most hard-working self-made women in Hollywood.
I do like the sultry, voluptuous, femme-fatale types too. But only on special occasions.
