What is the Oil and Natural Gas Industry?

Yes, I know that they provide important economic contributions to the United States, but what is it? I already know why it's important but I want to know what the industry is? Sorry, if it's confusing. Thanks.

The Oil and Gas Industry is the sector of the economy which deals with mining, refining, processing and marketing Oil and Natural Gas and its many fractions (petrol, kerosene, and a whole lot of organic compounds etc). This is a major contribution to the Total Revenue of some countries like the United States and Arab.

The 'Oil and Natural Gas Industry' is just a collective name used to classify governmental sectors concerned with production and marketing of Oil and Gas.
