Bypass admin password on Mac OS X?

i have a mac. i ve googled on how to bypass the admin password, and i try doing the whole hold Command+s to inter single mode and all that jazz, but when i do it, nothing happens. and i do it right after the chime, ive tried before the chime, still nothing. i dont have the mac cd either, and im not willing to open up the mac and mess with hardware. any help?

    Nothing happens because you didn't type anything to make something happen. There is nothing in the hardware configuration that affects the login password.

    Do this...

    Boot to single-user mode (hold ⌘ and the S key for 30 seconds at startup).


    /sbin/mount -uw /

    Press Return.

    {Nothing appears to happen, no problem.}


    rm /var/db/.applesetupdone

    Press Return.



    Press Return.

    {Now stuff appears to happen.}

    You can create a new admin account. This time, WRITE DOWN THE PASSWORD.

    i do no longer very own a Mac anymore, yet as quickly as difficulty that does artwork (if reinstalling is all you have have been given), installation OS X to a 2nd partition orpersistent and reproduction over your data from the old installation (all your significant data). Then only format the old partition and resize the hot one to soak up the gap.
