Can vegetarians go to Culinary School?

I know that this is a stupid question, but I heard that you have to eat everything that you make when you attend Culinary School. Which does make perfect sense.. However, I love cooking, and I even cook meat. Is there anyway that I can go to school without eating the meat? I have been a vegetarian for fourteen...

Yes, you will have to play with meat and dairy.
You will also have to taste it.
Sorry, there is no way around it -- how can you cook something to taste if you don't taste it?
The school won't care about your beliefs. Once you graduate you don't have to mess with it, but you can't graduate without doing it.
It's all up to you.

A regular school is not likely to be vegetarian and cooking meat is not vegetarian just as much as eating it is not. However their are vegetarian and vegan culinary schools:

No you don't have to eat everything you make, but you are expected to test and taste the seasoning of food etc and if you are cooking meat you wont be able to so I am not sure how you will go about that

As a former chef from Canada and having been in the trade when I worked for over 30 years, the baking and Pastry training will not involve much if any meat in the work, lard is from pigs but is used very rarely, you would work with butter, shortening, eggs, milk and other foods, meat pies are made but again your not required to eat them and schools now require the students you use vinyl or latex gloves in class.

They can but they will be expected to cook meat so most vegans would avoid although some establishments offer vegan courses in larger cities.

don't cook the meat. they wouldn't make you eat it but it isn't like they will replace their meals with it. they would try some and throw it away and that is basically the same as you eating it.
