How to solve y=-x^3-2x-1 for x using algebra?

Not where equation is = to zero.

Update:

what i mean is say y=5x then x=y/5. i need that for this equation.

    Are you trying to factor it? Because otherwise your question doesn't really make any sense because you cant "solve" a variable set equal to another variable. Because it is set to Y, X can equal any number.
