    None. The Puritans, Pilgrims, and Vikings were in Europe when the first New England winter struck.

    No Puritans did. Contrary to popular belief, the Puritans and the Pilgrims were 2 very different groups of people. The Pilgrims and handful of Separatists (who you are referring to) sailed to New England in 1620, and over half of them died during the first winter. The Puritans didn't sail to the current America until 10 years later in 1630.
