is it safe to go to Tijuana, Mexico?

I was considering going to Tijuana to build homes for charity work for school. I have been hearing a lot of bad things about Tijuana and I was wondering if it is safe to go down there. Thanks!

That's not a question with a yes or no answer. People go to Tijuana every day and are fine, but it is certainly more dangerous then it is right over the border in SD. Mexican kidnappings have been on the rise, and the drug cartels there are now the most powerful in the world, creating inter-organizational violence that catches tourists, locals, and any other innocent life that may be there in the crossfire. Chances are if you go down there you'll be fine, but there is some inherent risk that you will need to accept.

    Good luck!

Heck No! Mexico is a war zone. Avoid Mexico. The crime will kill you.
