Spray painting sword -> Oil?

I need to spray paint a sword to have white and light blue stripes.

I have an actual sword that I bought just for this (unsharpened), but swords come with oil on the blade to prevent rusting, so I need to remove all of it before I spray paint it.

I've tried wiping it off but that just doesn't get all of it off.

It needs to be completely clean, otherwise the paint won't stay on the blade.

What can I do to get ALL the oil off?

Maybe rubbing alcohol? I really have no idea..

Any help would be awesome, thank you!

:D

    A good, easy way to clean the oil off the blade is to use dish soap and a wash cloth to clean it, and rinse it off.
