Attorney General's Chambers

When Hong Kong was under British rule, there was a government department called the Attorney General's Chambers. What did the people there do? Is there an equivalent in the post-British rule Hong Kong government?

Update:

So, was the Attorney General's Chambers also known as the Legal Department?
