Do you think the early American settlers lived up to God's commandments?

In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus commands us to "love the lord your God with all your heart and with all your sould and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Using the writing of John Smith, William Bradford, and MAry Rollandson explain whether or not you think the early American seetlers lived up to this charge.

With all due respect, the pseudonym "John Smith" is the name used by thousands of fornicators at hundreds of motels. I refuse to read anything written by any of them.
