How long of a Hiatus do actors normally take between seasons to start filming again?

I gotta know because I'm trying to write a story about an actor [not a specific one, but a made up one] :-)

If you know anything else about an actor's job please mention it! thanks

    Hi Dove,

Generally, the time a working actor takes off from a show is dictated by the production company. Often, on like night time television, seasons can finalize anywhere from Feb - April. Then they pick back up in the fall. So, the actor may have a month or two between the time one season wraps, and filming for the next one begins. Just because we don't SEE them on television, doesn't mean filming isn't happening. Many times, Christmas episodes or specials are filmed during the "off season".
