    1.multiply out the left side using the distributive property:

    4*5x = 20x and 4*(-7) = -28; therefore 20x-28 = 5x-6

    2.combine like terms

    20x-5x = 15x and -6+28 = 22; therefore 15x = 22

    3.divide both sides by 15

    22/15 = 1.46666666667; therefore x = 22/15 or 1.4666667

    first you distribute the 4 outside the parenthesis

    4(5x-7)=5x-6

    to get 20x-28=5x-6

    then subtract 5x from 20x

    to get 15x-7=-6

    then add 28 to both sides

    to get 15x=22

    then divide 15 from both sides

    to get x=22/15 or x=1.46666667

    hope this helped

    1) foil the left side

    4*5x= 20x 4*-7=-28

    20x-28=5x-6x

    2)solve

    20x=5x+22

    15x=22
