    first solve one side for a variable

    x-2y=-7

    +2y +27

    x=-7+2y

    then plug it in the other equation

    3(-7+2y)+ 4y=-6

    solve

    -21+6y+4y=-6

    10y=15

    y=1.5

    plug them back in

    -4-3=-7
