I've been running a server for over a decade and the "HW" (hardware) problem doesn't fly. I don't buy it, whatsoever. There's nothing more embarrassing than getting hacked and the behavior that was present, earlier, is much more indicative of the site being hacked. There was code in the document root (the index/main page) of the site which causing the page to reload at the shortest possible interval, which creates a denial of service attack by overloading the server. I love Demonoid, but - again - the hardware explanation doesn't hold any water. If, somehow, the code on the site had gotten buggered it would have been a 45-second repair, in most cases. They'll get it fixed - but site has been hacked....I'll damned near guarantee it. I definitely think it's some sort of hack - and anyone could be behind it. The Federal govt. in the U.S. wouldn't be out of the question, in my mind.
