how to pick a good wok?

Getting my friend a wok as a wedding present how do I tell if I'm buying a good one? any suggestions on make or what to look for?

I'm from the Scotland we dont have china town unfortunately!

    OK look in to hand hammered Wok i would say ebay uk so shipping will be less. nice thing about the hand hammered ones you can saute the meats first then slide the to the side of the wok. to keep them warm then do the veggies then toss the meat back in the the veggies that how it has been done for years.

    get an authentic one in chinatown, something sturdy with a lid, deep and large.
