why is this Question offensive to Muslims? -Why do muslim women wear a hijab with make up? A Hijab....?
A Hijab is suppose to hide beauty, while make up makes a person more beautiful. I am not a Muslim hater and I was grown up in a Muslim religion (now an atheist)
but I do not understand why people find this question so offensive?
Its a Question purely out of curiosity and not an attack on anyone.
I'm wondering why Women get offended and Angry with this Q. I've received tons of swear words over this..
its just that, I asked this Question and I got quite a couple of angry responses from people, including people calling me a whore.
Lol, i didn't get hate online, I got it in real life.

The question is not offensive to Muslims, who said it was? I am a Muslim woman and its not offensive to me. I wear Hijab, I wear make up. I do not wear make that looks cheap and nasty but natural. There is nothing in Islam that says a woman cannot look beautiful. Hijab is not about hidding beauty its about presenting yourself modestly. There is nothing wrong with a little make up even women in the time of the Prophet (pbuh) wore eyeliner.
I certainly find no offense in the question, none at all. And I am certainly not angered by it, you will never receive one swear word from me.
I do find it annoying when people assume to tell me what offends and angers me though, that i could do without. A question about Hijab and make up? Not a problem!
For those that say its not permissible how does makeup get a Halal certification then if not permissible? You think they just stamp Halal on anything?
It is permissible like this
But like this, you are going beyond the bounds of modesty

I didn't say it was offensive at all, I've seen many questions like this and the Muslim women answer with respect. Hijab is beauty, the modesty is beauty..If a woman wears Hijab it doesn't make her any less beautiful. They say, "A Woman in Hijab is like a Pearl in a shell", it's protected. Even I've seen girls wear Hijab while they have make-up that's obvious we can see it, but the thing is of course we're allowed to wear SOME make-up with Hijab...BUT when you put it on with the thought that it will make you look attractive, pretty, etc, that's not what's meant by it. Discrete make-up is fine, if there's a special occasion within the family, etc...Makeup which still makes you look natural, is fine. I sometimes wear Kohl/Surma in my eyes, but not necessarily outside, but at home. And sometimes I have lip balm, it doesn't show colour though.
So basically, Hijab is modesty, simplicity, so why the need to wear makeup?

Maybe they found it offensive because they wore hijab with make-up whilst knowing it totally defeats the purpose of them wearing the hijab in the first place and they felt you were haram policing them. Though it's totally possible that they weren't offended by your question at all but rather found your physical appearance offensive hence them calling you a "whore" or something. Maybe they were just annoyed as it's a rhetorical question. why don't you just go ask them their reasons man. to us it's not offensive, in fact we ask the same thing.

To meet societies ever changing standards while following their religion.
Well this is the internet, get used to it.
Y!A tries to blocks swearing but there's always a way around it by substituting the letters for numbers or something lol.

Make up is anti Hijab. Probably they fail to understand the meaning of word Hijab. :)

It is probably offensive because you are:
a) questioning an ideology which doesn't tolerate criticism;
b) pointing out the idiocy of being "modest" but also adding on make-up. People generally don't like it if you point out their hypocrisy.

It's to look nice, not cheap. Less clothes is cheap. Make up is not. Get it?
