How do I get a new key for a 1997 bmw 328ic?

How do I get a new key for a 1997 bmw 328ic? I don't won't to go to the dealer if I don't have to. It does not have any sort of chip in it.

    1997 keys have the EWS microchip in it. Unfortunately, you have to go to the dealership. You'll have to prove to them that you own the car before the key is given to you. Your state issued ID and a copy of the current/valid title/registration with matching name and address will suffice. About ~$120USD and ~3 days later, you will have a key that will start your car.

    If it doesn't have a battery, you might be able to get a new key at a hardware store. If you lost it, you need to go to a BMW dealer.
