We never had a Holy Book until the Torah was brought to the ancient city of Byblos in Phoenicia.
Until then, the Torah (which means THE LAW) was hand copied on purified sheep skin, called 'parchment' because it was bleached and whitened to write upon. It was wrapped around two branches that created what we call a 'scroll' which was unwound on the left side and rewound on the right side as it was read, from left to right.
Our most Holy of wholy scrolls, (the oldest of which were versions of the Torah found in the caves of Qumran, Israel, along with other dead sea scrolls) is the Torah. You can go and the actual oldest versions of what is now called the 'Bible" at the Museum of Jerusalem, which is fortified so protect these holiest of scrolls so they won't be be damaged by the missiles constantly sent from the portion of Israel at Gaza, given to Palestinans in Israel in the hope they would be happy and be peaceful.
PLO leaders wanted power and forced other Palestinians to join their terroristic acts against Israel or die.. Jordan and Syria are already Palestinian states with 76 percent of those populations being Palestinans and today Israel is already smaller than New Jersey so Israel wants to keep what little and they have left.).
The Torah was enscribed, according to our Hebrew Israelite legend, by Aron, (spelled many ways) who wrote down on fine sheep parchment what Moses recited while God spoke through him..
The first time the ""Bible" was written out longhand in book form instead of on a scroll was in Byblos, Phoenicia. Byblos was a city on the coast near papyrus reeds that were made into paper, a word that comes from papyrus.
The first time the "bible" was printed out as an actual printed book as we know it was after the Guttenburg Press had the capacioty to print out a book. It is called the Guttenberg Bible.
The 5 books of Moses are the first part of the "Torah", which means the "Law" in Hebrew.
The Torah is generally accredited to a prince of Egypt known to the Habiru servants lovingly as as "Moses" or Moshe.
The Torah, which is generally claimed tby believers to have been written by God through Moses and Aron, was written in a language that was a combination of Aramean, the language of Israelites, who were Aramean people from Iraq before it was called Iraq. the area was then cALLED Chaldeal, a province of Sumeria, and the town they came from was called "Ar."or "Ur" the same origins that the countries called Aron/Iran and Araq/Iraq. In fact, even the garden of Eden was located in today's Iraq, now largely occupied by followers of Mohammad who attempted to displace Moses and wrote down in his Qu'ran commands to convert or destroy the descendants of Moses' followers.
, Hebrew is the language Moses' scribe, his brother Aron, used to write the 5 books of Moses, plus other books. The first 5 are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy but included in the Torah , then later, the Bible, other selected works.
. When Moses left Egypt with the city builders (mostly women) to find the promised land of the Israelites ,it was only a two week journey from Egypt, but he took his time getting there, forty years in fact. Some theorize he got 'lost' because no one could remember the path through the desert or knew the landmarks, others theorize they ate desert mushrooms every morning calledto'manna' that fell from the sky to sustain lost and wandering refugees while in the treeless fruitless desert when they had no source of food or shelter while lost in the sand and stone treeless desert..
Other say it took forty years becdause there were Philistines squatting all over Israel and they needed two generations to get enough male offspring to replace those killed by Pharoah to have a chance to fight to take back places like Jericho which they took by using the Ark of the Covenant and trumpets to get the walls to fall down so they could re inhabit Israelite ancestor's property which they shared with the Hebrews assimilated into the Israelite population of freed refugee slaves..
Israelites and Habiru (meaning 'strangers' in Egyptian) The Hebrews asimilated with the Israelites and I while living in Egypt as migrant workers and lived with, intermarried with, and left with the Israelites, the people of Moses' nanny who nursed him from infancy like her own son whom she had to drown in the Nile river, and she believed had been given back to her to raise, miraculously saved through an act of the One Creator God and a princess of Egypt who had an Israelite nanny raise him in the Palace as a prince alongside a competitor for leadership, some Hollywood movies have called 'Ramses.'
