    樓上兩位大大的說法在英語母語人士都存在, 但各是其中的一種.

    以下三種都正確:

「Did you used to play piano?」(O) <--- 視used to為一體「Did you use to play piano?」(O) <--- 台灣的正統教法

    「Used you to play piano?」 (O) <--- 英式傳統英語正式寫法

    茲轉述陳思「心英文法」中的講解:

    否定句和疑問句中used to有三種正確寫法:

    1)可視為獨立的個體(不受助動詞影響),或

    2)視used為一般動詞過去式,或

    3)視used本身即是助動詞。

例: He didn’t used to smoke as he was a student. (視used to為獨立的個體) He didn’t use to smoke as he was a student. (視used為一般動詞過去式) He used not to smoke as he was a student. (視used本身即是助動詞) Did you used to do such a ridiculous thing? (視used to為獨立的個體) Did you use to do such a ridiculous thing? (視used為一般動詞過去式) Used you to do such a ridiculous thing? (視used本身即是助動詞) 附加問句 There used to be some trees before, didn’t there.(正) There used to be some trees before, usedn’t there.(正) There used to be some trees before, wasn’t there.(誤)

    句中的play piano, 應訂正為play the piano.

    樂器應加冠詞the.

    2011-08-25 09:27:06 補充:

    「樓上兩位大大的說法」是指001與002.

    2011-08-25 09:41:14 補充:

    Prisoner大所說的:

    >2. it is both past tense and root.

正確應是: 2. "used" is either past tense or an auxiliary.

    也因為Prisoner大大沒提到助動詞用法(而視為根動詞VR)

    他也就漏掉了疑問句的used助動詞用法:

Used you to play the piano?

而他認為最佳的否定句寫法: I used not to like him.

    正是used的助動詞用法.

我個人是絕不會用"didn't used to" 或 "Did you used to...?"這種寫法的, 雖然英語人士有人用, 但大多數其他英語人士並不贊同, 因為形式上它違反了「助動詞+原式V」的基本規則.

然而, "didn't use to" 或 "did you use to"的寫法是絕對ok的.

這語"used not to" 或 "Used you to...?"相較, 只有個人習慣之別, 沒有哪個較好的問題.

    本人讚同[老登]的解說。

Macmillan English Dictionary for Advanced Learners 2007 edition p.1649

例句:Did you use to work here?

字典說明:The spelling 'did used to' is sometimes used, but many people think that this is wrong.所以這不能算是standard English,不宜模仿。

我過去習慣玩鋼琴:I pass the custom to play the piano

Did you used to play piano?:您曾经弹钢琴?

"Used to" is a strange dude in 2 ways:

    1. it is both verb and adjective.

    2. it is both past tense and root.

    Examples for 1:

I am used to being a kid.

I used to be a kid.

    Examples for 2:

I didn't used to like him. <-- OK (please don't ask me why!)

I didn't use to like him. <-- OK

I used not to like him. <-- best

    2011-08-25 09:07:09 補充:

Note: the following have very different meanings.

I am used to being a kid.

I used to be a kid.

    2011-08-25 09:17:02 補充:

    So, to answer your question:

「Did you used to play piano?」<-- OK

「Did you use to play piano?」<-- OK too!

I didn't used to play piano. <- OK

I didn't use to play piano. <- OK too!

I used not to play piano. <- the best among all three.

    An advice from the Prisoner:

    learn the following by heart:

    I am used to the heat in Taiwan;

    I used to love you;

I used not to play piano; (never mind the "the")

    don't need to learn:

    I didn't used/use to play;

    Didn't I used/use to love you

    avoid:

Used I to love you? (unless you are old and grumpy!)

    過去我習慣彈琴

I used to play the piano...............(樂器類名詞要加 the)

    過去你習慣彈琴嗎?

Did you use to play the piano?

    used to 是指過去習慣於....因為是過去的事,所以用過去

    式used變成問句時,用助動詞did來問,所以 used 要回到

    原形

不行, used to 是一個片語 如果你寫成 did she use toplay piano? 這句話的意思就會感覺怪怪的!! 很多人認為used to 是 use to的過去式 但其實 這兩個一點關係都沒有
