Algebra 2/Trigonometry Help?
I need to know a couple of things. Why is Sin, Cos, and Tan pronounced Sine, Cosine, and Tangent. Also, where did they come from and is there any particular reason as in why it was picked? Also, the word tangent in trig and geometry are the same, but are they related? In geometry for example, a line is said to be tangent to a circle if the line touches the circled in just one point. But in trigonometry the tangent = sine/cosine. Is there a relationship between these two words. Why is the trig word “tangent” used in geometry or maybe the geometry word “tangent” is used in trig?
Please help ASAP
