What is the proper compression for a 2003 Ford Escort Zx2?

My mechanic says my compression is low.

It started at 0 and went up to 150.

As strange as it may seem, the top compression number reached isn't as important as the relationship of the cylinder pressures compared to one another.

It's generally accepted that if all cylinders are within 10% of one another, you're in good shape.

Of course this is a rule of thumb and you should verify this by checking in the service manual.
