Yahoo indicates that Classic will remain but gives no method of going back. A few ways have been discovered to return.

Yahoo keeps telling people that the push to switch should end in 30 days but that date keeps advancing. Hopefully they will return the link since it does not make sense to keep Classic but only allow current users to stay.

These 2 links might work but you must use them every time or you will revert back to regular.

It has also been discovered that turning off Javascript will also allow you to return and the change is permanent.

If you are using IE go to tools ↬ internet options ↬ security. Click on the "custom level" button, go to the scripting section and disable active scripting.

If you are using Firefox go to tools ↬ options ↬ content. Click on disable Javascript.

When you go to Yahoo mail it will indicate that you must use Classic and will give a link. Once done you can return to the previous Javascript settings.

You can STILL go back to the Classic version---and it's actually pretty easy and only takes two or three minutes.

Classic will remain an option for those of us currently using it AND who don't want to (or can't) use the Beta version---even tho Yahoo has removed the link to go back to it. (they want to force you to use it)

Try this bit of trickery to (quickly and permanently) get back to Classic.

Just lower the page "resolution" to the point where it won't support the Beta version. Go to>>"start>control panel>"appearances and themes" >display>settings>>lower it and click OK.

You "may" then be required to restart your computer.

THEN-----Once you've gone back to your mail page ---you will be told that your resolution is too low and asked if you want to switch to Classic as the "default" or "permanently"---(NOT the "one time only").

AFTER changing your mail page back to Classic---- GO BACK to the control panel and return the page resolution to normal, (so things will continue to work smoothly.

    *********************************

In Classic you will STILL get the Prompts to upgrade (for a while)---but just click "No Thanks" OR "I want to stay on Classic" (small writing bottom of page). Eventually the prompts will stop (per Yahoo).

So would I. They aren't allowing it. Apparently, this new program works better on the small handheld devices. I'm not happy with the new email, but they do have online instructions here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ymail/migrat...

I've sent in many complaints, hopefully improvements are on the way.

This is yahoo answer to your question:

We have removed the "Return to Original Mail" link from the help menu as we're strongly encouraging all users to migrate to the newest version of Yahoo! Mail. We will continue to invest heavily in the latest version of Yahoo! Mail, further improving it and delivering more compelling features to our users.

We know that changing to a new interface can seem daunting, so we’ve done everything possible to make the transition easy. We have created help pages specifically for users who have recently switched to the newest version of Yahoo! Mail, highlighting differences that you may notice: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ymail/migrat...

IMHO - this isn't "strongly encouraging" it's brute force.

NEW YAHOO! MAIL IS STILL UNSTABLE....IT WOULD BE BEST TO GO BACK TO YOUR PREVIOUS VERSION OF YAHOO! MAIL...

To go back to YAHOO! MAIL CLASSIC...

Turn off Javascript - you'll then be asked if you want to return to Mail Classic, click "yes".

If you don't know how to turn off Javascript...

For SAFARI: Open SETTINGS>click PREFERENCES>>click SECURITY>>Uncheck ENABLE JAVA and ENABLE JAVASCRIPT

IMPORTANT:Remember to RE-ENABLE JAVA and JAVASCRIPTING back ON when you are back in Mail Classic because without it some mail functions won't work.

For IE: Open TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS >> SECURITY. In security click "CUSTOM LEVEL" -> disable active scripting in the scripting section.

IMPORTANT:Remember to turn JAVASCRIPTING back ON when you are back in Mail Classic because without it some mail functions won't work.

For FIREFOX: Open TOOLS -> OPTIONS -> CONTENT, click on "DISABLE JAVASCRIPT". Now hit F5 to refresh the page while you are in Yahoo! email in order to switch back... In the options, click (PERMANENT) to switch back to YAHOO! Classic. DO NOT click the "ONE TIME ONLY" option.

IMPORTANT: Turn JAVASCRIPT back ON once you have your "CLASSIC" account back.
