Well the Black Friday bushfire's of 1939 were significant to Australian History as these were at the time the largest Forest Fires in the World and Australia. During these fires 3,700 bridges were destroyed, 61 Saw Mills, and 71 persons died. Also 3,700 houses, and other structures were burned. This also burned 4,920,000 acres of land the size of the four corners states of Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. Here are some websites also google 1939 Black Friday Fires.
