nursing care- What is a k-rider?
I know it has something to do with infusing potassium, but what does the term "K-rider" actually mean?

Some times when your potassium is to low the Dr. will order a "K rider" which is a small bag of saline or dextrose water with a small amount of potassium to run in over say 4 hours. You cannot give an IV dose of potassium fast as this can be fatal. (lethal injections) So you can get 20 - 40 meqs of potassium over 4 hours to slowly replenish your low level.
