MEXICO is pronounced " ME hi co" with the stress on the first Syllable.
The "e" in Me is pronounced like the one in medal. Remember that Its not like in May. If you say something like "Mayjico" it'll sound funny.
The "Hi" sounds like the pronoun "He" in English
And the "Co" sounds like in "Cot" not like in no.
Hope this helps!

This is because Indians in Mexico just to pronounce it like that. And with more people growing with out school and education majority of people still pronounce Mexico Mehico but in Spanish like in English the world the letters X with I is pronounce the same. Words in Spanish like exito. Some Spanish speakers that pronounce mexico mehico they also call texas tehas.

In Mexico it is pronounced like Mejico. In many other Spanish -speaking countries it is pronounced like we would in English. I suppose it is polite to agree with the Mexicans on how to pronounce their country.

México = Méjico
" X " in Mexico has many sounds. In Mexico many words have indian roots.
México = Mé J ico (Americans / Canadians / Britons pronounced Me KS ico)
Xochitl = S óchiltl
Xochimilco = S óchimilco
Mixiote = Mi SH iote
Xcaret = SH caret
Xalapa = J alapa
Xoco = J oco
Tuxpan = Tu KS pan
I don't know if there is a grammar rule that explain when X sounds j, s, sh, ks.
I am from Mexico.
