Do you think USA spends to much money to fight against marijuana?

Marijuana is America’s Top U.S. Cash Crop since 2006 and in 1998 Marijuana was Ranked the Fourth Largest Cash Crop in America. Studies estimates that marijuana sells value is at $35.8 billion a year in the states which exceeds the combined value of corn, $23.3 billion, and wheat, $7.5 billion. The War on Pot cost America $42 Billion dollars a year and if you minus that number from 35.8 billion it equals 6.2 billion which is a big lost. 6.2 billion dollars is more money than America spends on cotton at 5.31 billion, grapes at 2.88 billion, rice at 1.71 billion and even Tobacco at 1.47 billion. We spend 42 billion on a drug that has not had a known death since its 10,000 years of known usage. But statistics show more than 400,000 Americans die from diseases related to cigarette smoking each year and more than 150,000 Americans die from alcohol abuse each year.

Why $42 billion? Because that's what our current marijuana laws cost American taxpayers each year, according to a new study by researcher Jon Gettman, Ph.D. -- $10.7 billion in direct law enforcement costs, and $31.1 billion in lost tax revenues. And that may be an underestimate, at least on the law enforcement side, since Gettman made his calculations before the FBI released its latest arrest statistics in late September. The new FBI stats show an all-time record 829,627 marijuana arrests in 2006, 43,000 more than in 2005.

Myth: Marijuana contains over 400 chemicals, thus proving that marijuana is dangerous.

Fact- Coffee contains 1,500 chemicals. Rat poison contains only 30 chemicals. Many vegetables contain cancer-causing chemicals. There is no correlation between the number of chemicals a substance contains and its toxicity. Prohibitionists often cite this misleading statistic to make marijuana appear dangerous.

Yes the US spends too much money at every little thing. The national dept tells the story. When you have a debt, that means you spend too much.

The reason why Marijuana is illegal is because during prohibition, all drugs (including alcohol) were banned. When the prohibition was lifted, only alcohol was lifted, because the alcohol, and textile industry lobbied to keep marijuana illegal.
