I can understand the interest in non-fiction. There is so much knowledge out there that you should want to use every bit of your time trying to obtain it. The universe is so vast and amazing, I'd like to understand as much of is as I possibly can before I die, and nonfiction helps you get there. But fiction is also so beautiful, because it shows humanity exactly for what it is.
In reading, I much prefer fiction. I prefer to learn about non-fictitious matters through watching it and having it explained to me, and to have visuals and such. History I can read, but for things like science, I'd rather have someone tell me about it face-to-face so I can ask questions freely.
