I am famished .

They were famishing for food.

why?why?

Update:

to Keren:

那food and medicine were flown to the area.

She is an interesting teacher for us.

to 珊珊

to 大師

    寫成 I am famished.

    寫成I am famishing。

    They were famishing for food.

    I am famished.

    I am famishing.

    Why? Let me explain:

    1. The word “famish” comes from “famine” which is from Latin fames, meaning “hunger”.

    2. As a verb, it can be vt as well as vi. Some examples are:

The drought famishes (vt) many children – meaning, the drought caused many children to starve to death.

Many famished (vi) during the wars – meaning, many starved to death for untold reasons.

Among these cases, the former is more commonly used. This is why you see its used mostly in passive form.

    Examples:

The children are famished [by the famine].

The famished (adj) soldiers were buried in a mass

    grave.....

    ex: i am bored.

ex: it is interesting for me.
