    If you did your research,, you would know that the main reason Russia cannot let go of Chechnya is because the Chechen territory has large amounts of oil which Russia`s economy benefits from. Russia would lose a lot of money in the oil industry if it were let go of Chechnya.

    Russia won't let Chechnya be independent for the same reason that America didn't let the Confederacy become independent. Russia is just trying to hold itself together and like another person said, Chechnya has showed the world that it's incapable of being an independent nation.

    Because in the past, when they let it have home rule and aside from foreign affairs, it was its own state, the Chechens almost immediately began to kill people in the surrounding Russian areas.

    One of the most basic requirements other states make on a country is that that country does not allow it's citizens to commit such acts of war.

    Chechnyans invaded Dagestan, demanding that their Islamic rule be extended to a wider area. They killed people, believing that the Russians did not care. They were wrong.

    Chechnya had its chance to be virtually it's own country, they blew it and proved to the world that they aren't worthy of being their own country.

    You mean, why not:

    1) Let Islamic immigrants gather in one part of your country;

    2) Buy land that by Islamic Law they may never sell to infidels/non-Muslims;

    3) Watch as they join the government and take over;

    4) See them fulfill one of the basic methods of jihad by forcing succession.

    Is that it?

    They are doing it right now in nearly every continent.

    They did it throughout the Middle East.

    They did it in Africa and in S.E. Asia.

    When they can't get it legally, they do it illegally.

    Why would ANY nation respect that?

    This is jihad. Only a small portion of the population is allowed to use violence.

    The rest donate money (required by Islamic Law, the same Sharia Law that is being passed in various countries) that MUST go to jihad, buying property that must stay in Muslim hands, going into office, even marrying non-Muslim women.

    My family fled Islam before I was born.

    You folks have NO idea what we are facing.

    The press is now mentioning if a conflict has one side that is Islamic, and BOY, do they show up a lot in every continent.

    Enough of it.

    No more.

    Because the next day "independence" had been declared, any possible Al-Qaeda forces would flood Chechenian territory to bring Greater Good a la 9/11 (if you know what I mean).

    Even know large sums of money being paid just to keep those even Chechenians loyal, who "vowed to serve" Putin & to kill the others (I chose verb serve because it's Medieval or tribal thinking of most Chechen rulers & bureaucrats)

    Because every other ethnic group under their yoke would also demand independence and Russia would end up a postage stamp sized country with nothing for farm land or resources.
