Why are Republicans saying "blank check" to reference Obama's debt demands?

Obama does not want a blank check at all.

That phrase is completely incorrect, and it is a lie.

This is about money that has already been appropriated and spent. This has nothing to do with new spending, this is entirely about money that has already been spent by Republicans from the Bush era.

It is more like Obama wants the USA to pay its debt, not to get a "blank check"

Why are Republicans using this new '2 word catch phrase' all over the right wing media circuit, when it is completely false and totally misleading?

Update:

@ scooter: Obama is telling you how the money will be spent. By law, and order of the constitution, the money is going to pay for bills that have already been received. This is not about new spending, it is about paying for bills that have already come. In short, the money is already spent, he has to pay for it.

The GOP/Teabag/Fox 'News'/Jesus party has a massive Ministry of Propaganda going via an army of right wing radio dummies, a huge print media and of course FOX itself. These people are as shameless as they are vicious. No lie is too big! No falsehood too sleazy! No accusation too foul and no steaming pile of out and out bull #$%& too high, wide or deep for these people. Propaganda works. Misdirection works. Disinformation works. These guys are pros and understand their audience....they know what the ditto heads want to hear. They hammer away 24/7 at their made up, all purpose 'Emmanuel Goldstein', the 'non existent 'far left liberals' who want to raise your taxes, surrender to the Islamo-facists, turn the US over to the UN, impose socialized medicine, take your guns and teach your children to be gay in 'government schools'. I give these weasels the Joseph Goebbels Award of Excellence in the Promotion of Bearing False Witness..with an Oak Leaf Cluster f$%^!. I also want to hurl at the antics of these fascisti mother $%^&ers, and if and when something bad happens to them and their corporate masters I'll be dancing in the streets! You may quote me!

Since the president can't spend a dime that the House doesn't give - it makes NO SENSE.

    Constitution: Section. 7.

Clause 1: All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

Clause 2: Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House

The amount they want to raise covers our payments and then some. History has shown that regardless of who's in office, they will spend it. The budget proposal that the administration did summit that failed in the senate, included increased spending. The belief of this administration and the leaders of the progressive party is that to climb out of a recession, you spend your way out of it. Every one of his speeches about the economy and or the debt ceiling have included, we need to invest more. All of this adds up to his philosophy about larger government, more taxation, and more spending.

Because in reality, the Debt ceiling is acctually a Spending cap!

And if you give the Left a new $2.7 Trillion Spending increase...THEY WILL USE IT ALL AND COME BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN TO ASK/DEMAND MORE without every lifting a finger to cut spending in any real way.

The cuts they are proposing now are nothing more than SMALLER FUTURE INCREASE!

    Talk about double-speek!

And then they will spend and spend

Till we are no longer a viable nation.

In essence, Obama’s rhetoric about a "balanced approach"and "compromise" in the debate to raise the 14.3 TRILLION dollar debt ceiling, in reality, means he's totally unwilling to accept any "deal" that does not serve his political interests and advance his socialist tax-and-spend agenda.

Obama really does want a blank check!

Why do liberals act as if there will be no more wasteful spending if Obama gets his way?

He is the main proponent of further debt spending. He will not get the blank check PERIOD.

Because it's the latest talking point.

No matter how many times it is pointed out that this is not about giving us more money to spend, it's about paying for our *already approved and committed* bills, they'll continue to wave their tiny fists.

When are we going to see the president's demands in writing?

Surely even YOU are smart enough to figure out this is the textbook definition of a blank check: demanding money without saying how it will be spent.

We're to the point now where the president has run out of time. He has failed America.

A child could do better than this and at least list his favorite candies.

The mere fact that he wants more revenue and no serious cuts to spending means huge deficits in our future, eg a blank check...
