Is Florida a state? :)?

I'm not American, I'm Irish but I've been to Florida before and my cousin said Florida is a stare but I think its not. So could you tell me is it? :)

    Yes Florida is a state in the U.S. On March 3, 1845 it became the 27th state to join the Union. :)

    Yes, it is. The U.S. has 50 states but its capital, Washington, D.C. is not a state.
