Is this Rate of Inflation calculation for CPI correct?

CPI= 100 Base Year CPI= 109 Following year Rate of Inflation=?

My calculation

Inflation= 100 x ( 109 - 100 ) / 100 = 9%

    Yes. It's hard to tell from the way you wrote it, but if the base year is 100 (which it always is) and the current index number is 109, then that's 9% inflation since the base year.
