The backup feature in steam only works for the game files not the saves. However if you want to backup the games just right click them in your steam list(the ones that are installed) and choose to back them up, then simply copy the backup to your external HD, and when you login to your account on another computer, just plugin the external HD and in steam choose to restore the backups, locate and everything will go smooth. I've been doing this a lot lately and it works flawlessly. To locate the save game here's a little article about where to look for, for valve games

I easily have an exterior ZIPchronic, and that i take advantage of it to acquire/upload records on the desktops on the library, on condition that my A-power at homestead isn't working. i will greater healthful greater records on a zipperchronic, in spite of the undeniable fact that it particularly is totally confusing to locate a public pc that has one. Thischronic does not have any area for storing on it, it basically lots the disk and transfers the techniques to/from the pc.
