failed the 1 hour glucose test for gestational diabetes :(... anyone else?

I took my 1 hour prenatal glucose test a few weeks ago, and my midwife just told me it was high (153). I now have to go do the 3 hour test, and I just feel upset and frustrated. I feel guilty and responsible for it being high- i've very healthy and am gaining weight right on track and have stayed pretty active (walking 4 miles/6 days a week through my 2nd trimester... been a little less active the last few weeks). I'm sure it's just my pregnant hormones, but it makes me feel worried and sad. And also frustrated that I have to fast and find time to take off work to get the 3 hour test. I know it's worth it to make sure nothing will hurt my baby, but anyone else have any experience with this? Thanks!

Hun don't stress over it most pregnant women fail the 1hr glucose tolerance test and pass the 3hr test so don't get upset it's normal. If you fail the 3hr test you need to understand even if you eat right and exercise and still have gestational diabetes so don't get sad or angry it's not your fault so don't feel guilty.

I failed both tests I have gestational diabetes I don't eat junk food and I eat healthy but I was diagnosed it's something you have no control over it your body isn't able to control the sugar because it's working so hard to keep so many things on check so it happens not enough insulin is produced to control it.

I am now on a carb diet that I follow everyday and I have to check my sugar levels 4 times a day at first is a bit hard then you get used to it and it's not so bad it's actually good for you and every one should eat that way anyway but people don't. Most cases of gestational diabetes can be controlled with diet and exercise so if you are diagnosed you'll be able to control it without taking medication of insulin.

Though it seems stressful and like it's the worse thing that could happen it's not, you can still have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. So don't stress you will probably pass the 3hr test and if you don't that doesn't make you a bad mom and you shouldn't feel guilty it's not your fault. I am little and average I barely gained 16 pounds at 34wks and I have it so don't feel sad you are not the only one out there you can push through it.

    Good luck!

I too failed my 1 hour glucose test when I was pregnant with my twins. I was also frustrated, nervous, and very upset. I had a very good pregnancy up to that point. My weight was right on target, even a couple pounds less then expected. I was eating very healthy and only craved tomatoes; which I ate very frequently. I was very upset to learn that my numbers were in the 150's as well. I went back for the my 3 hour glucose test with anticipation of learning that I was a gestational diabetic which completely scared the hell out of me. I did not want to feel restricted or run the risk of causing something to happen to my babies. I did not want to have to worry about checking my glucose levels everyday because I hate pricking my fingers for anything. Needless to say; I suffered through the 3 hours of weighting and everything turned out just fine. My doctor explained that sometimes your body needs the additional time to break the glucose molecules down. He explained that if my 1 hour was higher then he would have been more concerned by 150's wasn't all that bad. I was ecstatic and very pleased to learn that everything was aye okay.

I wish you lots of luck and know that all the stress will be over very soon. I hope your 2nd attempt at the test works out just like mine. If it does, treat yourself to a big lunch after fasting for 3 hours. 3 hours can feel like forever when you are pregnant (LOL). Best of luck to you and your beautiful baby.

As you know I have it . The 3hr test err you have to drink a full bottle of that drink and beware it may make you sick . Have someone go with you ! Also it's not the worst thing having GD most of the time they can control it with diet but if not they will start you on insulin which isn't the worst thing I've been doing it for a few weeks . Also my doc office will induce a week early just to be sure the baby's shoulders don't get to big and you will have to go in for non-stress test which aren't bad at all just take up time I like them because I get to lay there is listen to the heartbeat and another neat thing is you get to have extra ultra sounds I'm looking forward to mine so either way BEst of Luck and I will give you as much advice as I know

Diabetes might be helped easily by taking on a handful of change in lifestyle. Learn here https://tr.im/p8wa2

The diet plan really should be made up of plenty of fiber and also wholesome foods. Eat four to 6 meals/snacks spread equally throughout a day. Commence doing exercises routinely. Supplements could help too. Flax oil, daily multivitamin, bitter melon, garlic, onion, and stevia might help.
