What can we do on a holiday in Valbonne, France?
We are going to Valbonne in the summer for 12 days and were wondering if anyone new some good places to visit with two children aged 12 and 14 around the area?

Valbonne is in Provence which is a magnificent region and it has famous resorts just down the road along the coast. If your children are like most others they will enjoy going to the seaside and swimming.
I will not paraphrase this report which gives you most that there is to be said about the lovely old town of Valbonne with its quaint streets:
but once you have been round it your children will want other distractions and Sophia Antipolis is not really a tourist destination. Near by, there is the parc forestier de la Brague for good walks.
Up the road is the town of Grasse where many of the most famous perfumes are made.
On the coast you have Cannes, Nice, Antibes, Cagne -sur-mer, and the principality of Monaco.
If you have a car it is not a very long drive on the motorway ( E80 and A8) to towns like Avignon (Palais des Papes in the ancient city) or Arles ( Roman monuments), the Pont-du-Gard, and Aix-en-Provence.
If the children are interested in nature the Camargue is absolutely wonderful with its flamingos and wild horses.
It really depends on how far prepared you are to drive.
I suggest you buy a good and well-illustrated guide book such as the Dorling Kindersley and get the children to identify the things that would interest them, then decide on itineraries which you can select depending on the weather when you get there. The Michelin green guides provide ready made detailed itineraries and maps but are not as colourful.
Enjoy your holiday!
