Everyone has their own preference about what ballet is to them. I know many people (mainly competition jazz kids) at my school who HATE ballet with a passion, and don't even try in the classes they're required to take. I however love ballet and find it fun, challenging, a great workout and graceful.
I know many say ballet is repetitive and want to know why they can't mix it up a bit like jazz, but that's the way ballet is. I for one love doing the same barre work every week and working on perfecting adage/adagio combinations in the center. I really like focusing on technique.
You'll have to try ballet and see what you think of it. Maybe you'll find that jazz or lyrical will be better for you, or maybe you'll love ballet. It's harder than most people think, but it's really rewarding and fun too. If you don't like ballet, at least you'll be happy you tried it and found out what it's like.
Hope I helped, and good luck with your dance classes. :)
