What does the phrase 'a dime a dozen' mean?

It refers to something that is overly abundant. So when I say "guitar players are a dime a dozen", it's like saying there are so many of them I could buy 12 of them for 10 cents. (not literally of course).

It means that the object or person they're referring to is not worth very much (either in monetary terms or something else).
