What is a good vacuum for picking up pet hair?
I just got a long haired, furry dog. I'm looking to purchase a new vacuum that will be good for getting his fur off the furniture and floors. I looked into the Dyson animal models, but read in many reviews, that they don't work well on surfaces other than carpeting. My whole house is tile and hardwood floor so other than the upholstery, that probably won't help. Any one have other suggestions?

The Dyson range features models designed to meet the cleaning needs of every home, including those with a mixture of floor surfaces. If you're considering a Dyson cleaner, you might like to take a look at our website to read reviews written by Dyson owners. You can also filter the range to identify the models most suited to your individual requirements:
Our Animal models are equipped with dusting tools engineered for effective removal of pet hair from carpeting, furniture and the car. The Animal range includes a selection of full-size and compact upright and canister machines:

In your case with so much bare floor area, the best vacuum would be a canister style with a non-powered floor brush. It is imperative that you have a non-powered floor brush so as not to damage your bare floor surfaces. The brush will gently loosen dirt and dust while the vacuum removes it.
My top pick canister is the Oreck Quest Pro, though again, in your case, you may not need all the fancy features, so you may prefer the standard Quest.

you want a vacuum that has a capacity head to p.c.. up puppy hair. I had a dyson and it wasn't very powerful to me. I had to drain the bin each 2minutes it in simple terms made vacuuming a hour long chore. I did a sprint examine and located an incredible vacuum, rated distinctly on all attempting out web content, its a SEBO and that that they had countless fashions too. i finished up getting a SEBO X4, it has an automated powerhead so u can apply it to not ordinary and carpeted flooring, for this reason i dont ought to comb the tiles!!! i in my view cant tell u how outstanding it fairly is.

I have an oreck X17, which picks up the fur from my long haired cat. It is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned.I also have a dyson but the oreck beats it hands down................................
