No. Its really simple. If you are getting him/ her from a shelter, you just go there, pick out a dog you like, play with it to see if it likes you, then fill out some paperwork. You will have to pay an adoption fee, then spay/ neuter it if it isn't already fixed. Also, make sure you are ready for a dog. If you picked it out the day before you actually pick it up, make sure you buy a bed/ crate that fits it, food that is appropriate for its age, and lots of toys :) Make sure the dog likes you, though. Also, be prepared to lose hours of your time to training, housebreaking, vetting, and crate training the dog. If you cant do that, get a dog that is already trained, or dont get one at all.
