Moving to Amsterdam, will i need a job to purchase an apartment?

I'm from the EU, i want to move to amsterdam but will i need a job first to get an apartment (to prove i can pay for it), or can i pay 2 months rent up front and then look for a job? what sort of job would i need to pay for an apartment in the centre of amsterdam?

Just about all real estate companies will require you to prove you have a job. Centre of Amsterdam... well, that is not cheap! Something slightly nice, 1000 euros at least

I think it would look better if you had a job so it looks like you could actually pay for it.
