It is not an STD. It is a skin disease wherein apocrine or sebaceous glands, mainly the areas where you sweat, get clogged. Underarms, breasts, inner thighs, groin area and buttocks are the most common areas. Hormone changes, humidity and heat, sweating, etc., can cause flareups. Sometimes the lumps can be large. They are usually tender and painful. Sometimes they do not heal for months, and some need to be drained. Scarring can also occur. It is very important to see your doctor for these outbreaks, or at least call them if they have treated you for it on another occasion, because you may need treatment (bacterial infections and cellulitis are common with this). It is not contagious, just unsightly and many people avoid medical visits because they are embarrassed. There is no cure that I have heard of. Hope this helps.
